Talent Shop: Mentoring

Mentorship of candidates is one of the key success factors around how we work at The Talent Shop.

As a Talent Shop Mentor, you will not get the opportunity to support a talented access citizen to succeed, you will also get to experience the personal and professional growth that mentorship provides.

Become a mentor

Our talent pool is a continuous pipeline of candidates looking for both permanent employment opportunities as well as 12-week internship experiences. As such, we are always on the lookout for passionate, dedicated volunteers to provide support and guidance.

  • Mentors should have at least 2 years’ full-time work experience.
  • You can work in any industry or business sector.
  • You are not required to have had any previous mentoring experience.
  • You should be able to commit to at least 1 year of mentoring.

What to expect

If selected, you will be matched with a candidate who is seeking a new role or has recently been placed through the Be. Lab’s Talent Shop.

  • Mentoring sessions will be fortnightly or monthly depending on the duration of the work placement – the maximum time you’ll be committed to mentoring is 1 year.
  • The format for each meeting is recommended to be fluid, depending on what is at the top of mind for the mentee.
  • The sessions may be either face-to-face or virtual depending on the location of the parties.

If you are an enthusiastic, authentic individual, who is keen to share the benefit of your own experience, an avid listener and reflector while providing guidance if and when required, then we would love to welcome you as a Talent Shop Mentor.
