Our long-held vision is for Aotearoa to become the most accessible nation in the world. In 2022 we identified the opportunity to create real economic and social impact by elevating the accessibility conversation to board level.
Quite simply -we need to see disabled and access leadership around the board table adding value to the commitment to reimagine the future; inclusive of all.
The Be. Leadership in Governance programme will help participants to further develop skills needed for governance roles and learn how to be effective and successful board members.
This unique programme has been developed in partnership with Whaikaha (Ministry of Disabled People) and supported by the New Zealand Institute of Directors.
Building on our 11-year Be. Leadership programme, a pilot in 2022, and a successful 2023 intake, we’re excited to offer the Be. Leadership in Governance programme again in early 2024.
The 2024 programme is a mix of two day, in-person sessions (venue TBC) and half-day online sessions. Participants must commit to attend all sessions.
Half-day sessions will run for four hours and will be hosted online. Please ensure that you have a stable internet connection for these sessions.
Two-day in-person sessions will be held at an accessible venue (most likely in Auckland) with participants staying overnight.
The venue will be confirmed soon, and we will discuss transport and accommodation requirements with eligible participants in advance.
Thank you to all applicants. We will contact you to discuss next steps.

The 2024 programme is designed for up to 20 leaders from the disabled and access communities. We are seeking applicants who are keen to develop and enhance their governance skills or are seeking their first board role.
Applicants must be able to attend all sessions.
We will be continuing to invest in leadership development of disabled and access leaders, and we want to make it as easy and accessible as possible to apply.
There is no cost for the 2024 Be. Leadership in Governance programme.
We can also cover travel costs for in-person sessions.
This page will be updated as we finalise details about the 2024 programme.
